Former HIV and AIDS Ambassador,
Joyce Dzidzor Mensah, will appear before Ghana Aids Commission Board later
Wednesday following her controversial claims she has never contracted the
virus.
When Ms Dzidzor appears before the
Commission this morning, she will be probed about details of her controversial
revelations.
Director of the Ghana AIDS
Commission, Angel El-Adas, says Ms Mensah's invitation is crucial to
understanding her new stance on her HIV status.
Joyce Dzidzor Mensah, last Monday
shocked the nation by declaring that contrary to popular belief, she is not HIV
positive.
She says she has been lying for the
past four years about her HIV status despite educating people on the disease
and campaigning against HIV/AIDS stigmatisation.
The Ghana AIDS Commission however
insists Ms Mensah tested HIV positive in 2007.
"Many of our media partners
have been trying to attribute all kinds of reasons for what is happening now.
Even some of our [donor] partners have done that", Dr El-Adas said.
She said the outcome of today's
encounter with the Ms Mensah will determine the way forward on the matter.
