The Aliu Mahama Foundation has rolled out activities for the
celebration of the first anniversary of the death of former Vice
President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama.
According to the Foundation, organizers of the anniversary, the
celebration which kick-starts on November 9, include a public lecture,
Christian and Moslem prayers across the country, a health walk and a
documentary on the life of the late Vice President.
At a press conference in Accra, Mr Kwesi Abeasi, Chief Executive
Officer of Invest Consult Limited, told a press conference in Accra on
Wednesday that the activities were simple in nature due to the humble
personality of late Vice President.
He said the activities had been put together by the Foundation, the
late Vice President’s family, his friends with support from the New
Patriotic Party and the government.
Mr Abeasi said the programme would begin on November 9 with a health
walk from the Accra Sports Stadium through some selected streets. There
will be a documentary on his life November 11 and 13.
Muslim and Christian prayers would be held on November 15 and 17
respectively to be climaxed with his final Muslim funeral rite (Adu’a)
on November 17 at his residence in Tamale, and a football match between
Real Tamale United and Wa All Stars.
The late Vice President Mahama died on November 16 last year at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
