Speaking to Adomonline.com, Nana Kofi Annan, a fisherman at Axim said they are suffering because politicians have taken over the supply of premix and only selling to their favourites or party supporters.
“They are indeed playing politics with the fuel and using it for their own selfish interest. Because this government is in power, they are selling the fuel to their own people and selling it at a rather high price to the fishermen in Axim. It is really unfortunate” he noted.
“Even when the fuel finally lands in our community, the owners in turn sell it to their own people because they are in government” another fisherman, Ekow Panin added.
Nana Kofi Annan indicated that the situation has seriously affected their business to the extent that they are not able to get enough fish as a result of the non- availability of fuel.
They are therefore calling on government to intervene and allow the proper state agencies do their work.
“The government we have now is for all of us and so we fishermen of Axim have the right to be treated fairly and for that matter I am calling on the president to act fast and save our business because we feel rejected” he stressed.
